@Dan any trouble with this?

https://thenextweb.com/cars/2019/09/03/tesla-owners-reportedly-got-locked-out-of-their-cars-because-the-app-was-down/
Bunch of #fakenews hot garbage.

You use your Tesla over Bluetooth, not over the app. If your Bluetooth connection is bad then you use your backup key card (or key fob if you bought one). Only if your Bluetooth isn't auto-connecting and you don't have your backup card that you should always have would the app being down make any difference.

The app being down should have affected nearly zero people. But it's Tesla, so it goes viral.

But yet it impacted numerous people. So either there’s a glitch, or loads of stupid Tesla drivers, or both.

There are many Tesla drivers out there, plenty of them are bound to be stupid.

No shortage of idiots out there.
Why in the world are they opening their app to drive their car? The Bluetooth key works flawlessly and doesn't require that you take your phone out of your pocket. And if your phone is dead you would use the keycard, not the app!

I’m not sure how it works, but is there a way to operate with app but not Bluetooth? Perhaps that’s what they set up

The Bluetooth key is one of my favorite parts of the Tesla experience. So liberating to not carry around a keyfob or worry about where the keys are!

If you're an idiot and want to take out your phone and open the app to start the car every time, sure. But it would be much faster to just use the key card.

Perhaps during the outtage there was no way to set up Bluetooth key???

My wife’s odyssey does the same thing. The key is built into the car 😂

Also having the Bluetooth key means your car knows to automatically lock itself if you are more than 10 feet away from it and open itself when you push the door handle.

No idea, but why would you not have it setup that via Bluetooth in the first place?

My point is that if Tesla makes something an option and it doesn’t work due to an outtage restricting people’s ability to drive, even if they could or should have set it up differently that’s a problem.

Ooc how much are you paying for insurance on your vehicle and how does that compare with your old car. My fathers doubled from a Saab to a model s (30% higher msrp)

Geico wanted a lot more than my Altima, but I switched to Progressive and my rate actually went down. Paying $343 now for 6 months Ody+Model 3. Would be less if I didn't have a lead foot in Hawaii that nearly landed me in the slammer.

$700 a year for full coverage on two cars/2ppl? Another reason to move to CLE.
that’s for comp/collision and normal deductible (eg 500), right?0
