Hey, has anyone here ever made a claim on an Allstate renters policy?
Had a fire, and was wondering if anyone here has been down this road...
I sent you a PM
I work in the industry and most of my experience with allstate is that It depends on the field adjuster who does the inspection.
Feel free to pm me any questions

For this type of insurance isn't it just a matter of shopping around to get the lowest price?

Make sure to get a quote from Lemonade.com too if they're not on your radar already - they may have low premiums. It's not available everywhere (e.g. not in OH) but if you live in NY, NJ, TX, IL, CA you can get a quote (which covers most frum communities).
I'm an optimist; but only because life isn't going to give me any other good choices.

I just wanted to make sure they are legit. Lemonade.com is giving me a good quote. Anyone ever had to put a claim in using lemonade.com?

They are legit. It's a new company which is why many people haven't heard of it.

Here are some interesting posts about the claims process

Hope you're not focused on claims right now for the wrong reasons.

Wow. Never heard of it. Over $400 less for, from what I could tell, comparable insurance (home insurance policy). Would anyone who is knowledgeable want to compare the policies to see if they are truly comparable?

Are they trustworthy?

Lol. I wasn't asking any insurance agents to work for free. I was just asking if someone could look over, or is familiar with, the standard policies of Lemonade and see if there's something not included that is typically included or available as an option.

Lemonade is the insurance agent. Traditional brokers won't say anything good about them (mostly for that reason).

I was only pretending to be insulted... all I really know about Lemonade is that they use standard policy forms and that they have a very good hype machine.

Sounds fair. Would you say that it is prudent to rely on them as your insurer?

you would have to compare the coverage's for example check they are offering you water back-up and overflow, if they offer a portion of your contents coverage for improvements and betterment's (for example if the renter painted etc)

I never dealt with lemonade, however a lot of the small companies don't have staff adjusters and hire independent adjuster to deal with the claim... so it would depend who they use.

Main thing is though that you want to make sure they are giving you replacement cost coverage. and not actual cash value. You can google the definition of both but suffice it to say ACV is not great and is usually much much cheaper

That I read. I saw that they do not cover sewer backup. I asked them if they offer it as an additional coverage option. I'll report back when I hear from them.

i only mentioned sewer back up as an example of an extra coverage that can change the price. try comparing both declarations pages and see what each company is offering.
