UPS Denied Claim for Signature Required Package - What To Do?
« on: December 17, 2023, 01:25:07 PM »
I had a package with brand new cell phones shipped to me via UPS. As I live in a Brooklyn apartment building where packages are routinely stolen, it was shipped with insurance for the value of the phones and was signature required.

Sure enough, the package was delivered on Shabbos, but rather than deliver it to our door and get the signature, it was dumped in the lobby where it was promptly stolen.

Under proof of delivery, there was no signature, but merely the name of the recipient typed out. I filled a claim, and 2 weeks later it was denied with proof of delivery attached, in the form of a signature that doesn't resemble the signature of the recipient in the slightest.

Is there anything I can do? The claim was for more than 10,000. Can I change the claim to 10,000 and take it to small claims court?

File a police report. (The only one who can do that is the one the package is addressed to)

Get camera footage and open new claim.

File a police report.
.

Turns out when the value of the package is high enough they actually get detectives and whatnot involved.

That’s what prompted my comment. Figured it might or might not have been related :P

If you paid with a credit card you should be able to get a refund pretty easily
