How early to buy? and when to wait...

Not sure if there is a topic on this...(I know there are many silly Yahoo articles on this topic)...

I want to buy a flight for Pesach to Spain...months away. Prices are fluctuating...I don't know when to buy.

How do you guys determine (obviously you can't predict special fare deals or fuel drops) when is a good time to buy.

In my case, there are three set nonstop routes, any way to track or see data from previous years for when prices moved?

I have the same question for a family member of mine.

A family of 6 wants to fly from the Wash DC area to E.Y. on June 16th, for approx. a week.

The fares they're finding now are $1600 non-stop (United), or $1300 with a stop in Istanbul (Turkish).

We know that June is considered high season. Is it too early to book now? How does one decide if to book now, or to wait for a deal?

Any advice would be appreciated.
