What's the story with the Optane memory? Is it as good as regular RAM? Better?
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

Sounds like it's used as a cache in an effort to squeeze SSD like performance from regular HDD.

I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Interesting! So what amount of RAM would this laptop compare to?

I would compare to one with 4gb of ram and an SSD (initial boot up and loading programs will likely be slower).

In my experience, I found optane to be more of cache that keeps the things you do most often.
Like the first 3-4 times you open a specific program it speeds up a little each time.

So after opening the same program a few times you get pretty good speed from a regular HDD.

so at these specs, you should probably add RAM, but SSD second drive can wait

?

More or less the idea.
