Amex Accelerated Rewards

Hi guys:

I'm fairly new to this site and I keep reading aobut the %25 bonus that you can get from the Starwood AMEX

I recently came across this site from Sovereingn Bank which offers an "Amex Accelerated Rewards"  Card.
They offer 1.25 points for every dollar spent.  Is this better than the SPG where you don't get your %25 until to transfer to an airline ?
I didn't do enough reading of the "Terms & Conditions" but I did notice that this card uses "World Points"
Any Experts please advise on the ins & outs of this card.
