Does this hold true for any test drive from a dealer, or only in this case because it's yours and not a rental?
Either should be covered by your insurance.

You mean regular insurance? Do dealers take your CC for a deposit amount when they let you take the car on a test drive? If they do, does CC insurance cover?

Another point, insurance will cost a decent amount as well. I guess the MS will cover that, especially if you use CSP, CIP through Plastiq, or the like
My Model 3 insurance is $1.05 per day.

Regular auto insurance.
If you're not insured and damage the car on a test drive you'll need to pay for damages.

Just for comparison, what did you pay for the Altima (if you don't mind sharing)?

Got it. Have regular insurance. Was just targeted for a 24 hour test drive and was debating if I should take it. I think I'll just take the $100 GC without the test drive. In NJ, test drive is not required to get the GC.

Yes, but will Tesla take it back afterwards?

Feel free to correct. Never tried to test drive without being an insured driver.

Basically it is the dealers insurance. If it is your fault the dealer will most likely try and get your insurance to pay.
Of course if someone is injured then everyone will be sued.  :)

@Dan @jj1000 can we please set up standards for SMOKING HOT! deals? In my mind that title was always reserved for deals with significant savings (I donno let's say $300+) that would have widespread interest.

Recently it's been much less than that imo - just scan this https://www.dansdeals.com/?s=smoking+hot

Echo dot - Wow save $25
Lowes GC - Wow receive $5 GC that I won't use. Not sure why this was any different than all of the other instant games.
Google wifi 3 pack etc - ~$200 savings I guess borderline smoking hot but not necessarily widespread appeal. I would go with Hot! Hurry!
Kidkraft Kitchen - less than ~$100 savings although probably widespread appeal. I would go with Hot! Hurry!
Google Fi offer - Original offer posted as HOT! only upgraded to SMOKING HOT! after $100 Amex savings.
Boo! Get out of my forum

They can ask and also come after you. I am like you. I am always insured. If you notice they don't ask for insurance information for a test drive.

On the email I got for the 24 hour test drive it says I must have comprehensive insurance, as well as be over 25.

If you are taking the car home I would expect that. I assume you will also need to sign some type of paperwork. For a typical test drive (a few times around the block) none of that is required.
