My bank takes money orders and third party checks in both my business and personal accounts. I do most of it in the business account. The previous bank I used five years ago closed my accounts because of too high caah and money order deposits in a business account, and all was legitimate business deposits. So banks have different tolerance to such issues.

are 3rd party checks an issue across most banks? or is this just part of chase's general paranoia (like with cash)?

Do we have DP on 3rd party payments with other banks?
Amex?
Boa? (teller vs. atm)?
Citi? Elan?

ETA:
A family member of mine had their Amex shut bc of 3rd party paying the credit card bill

Sorry if this is a newbie question or this is the wrong thread for this. I've gotten tons of credit cards and points but this is my first time "churning" a card to get a benefit for a second time.  I just closed my United credit card and now want to reapply to get the 60k point bonus.  If I closed my card today, do I need to wait a certain amount of time for applying for the new one?

With Chase you can get the bonus again 24 months after the last time you got it.

The Chase Sapphire Preferred/Reserve cards are once in 48 months after receiving the sign up bonus for either card. Can't have both

Thanks, I know that part and it's definitely been 24 months. I kept it a few years for the perks.  I meant more like if I closed it Yesterday, can I apply for the new card on Sunday or Monday.  I have an offer when I log into United.com for 60k bonus that expires May 16th.  Can you cancel a card and then apply for the new one the next day?  Do people generally wait a month or two?

Ok under a "don't" I guess a week wasn't enough between closing my United card (which the rep made clear it is now CLOSED and your benefits will end immediately) and applying for the new one as I just got a number that I was declined due to already having the card.

I know I've seen it elsewhere, but can't find, it.  Can one of you send me the phone number for Chase reconsideration, as its not on my letter.

On your credit report it will still show up so it automatically gets rejected when you sign up for that same branded card. I donít think recon will help.

So then how long do I have to wait until I can apply for another United card? How long does it take to go off your credit report?

So I called again and they said it now shows closed and should go through (unless there is another reason I don't know of for them to decline it) although good news is that she said they did NOT do a credit pull on that application, I guess because it never got there when they saw I already had an account still "open."

Why are you a bigger risk to a bank with a returned payment then if you only pay the minimum due ?

Min due they make money. You really think a bounced payment is not worse than min due? I am not sure why you think min due is a risk.
