how not nice can they be when bringing you your car?

a nice smile is good, letting you wait for 20 mins isn't.

If people were nice, they get a tip (amount depends on the country). If not, they get zero. I'm allergic to people hanging around until you feel uncomfortable and have to tip, so I make a point of not to tip them.
and they must love jews after that experience

Caterer gave me the bill and said if you want to tip the waiters, decide how much to add on.Was 2 meals over Shabbos, so you're suggesting double the 15-20?
That is a common amount. Obviously if you had waiters that did not do a good job, don't feel as obligated to tip and if you do, you can always tip a lesser amount.

If you want "extra" service for your room or something else. It may make sense to tip the housekeeper, waiter, concierge etc.

Reminds me how when I was newly wed, we went out to eat, and when we asked for the check the waitress told us some random guys paid for us.

That never happened to me (and never has since). I felt like such a celebrity. I left the place and then it hit me that I still shoulda left a tip. I still kinda regret it

Happened to us once when I was expecting my first kid. We saw someone who had known my husband in high school and just stopped at their table to say hello. When we were ready to pay the waiter told us that they had paid for our meal. So sweet! and yes we did leave a nice tip.

Well i live up a flight of stairs and a "sharp" turn. So was feeling a little more generous.

We had a piano delivered and they charged and extra $150 because of the stairs and turn. Crazy.
