Day camp tips; I don't see why it's necessary to tip camp counselor when day camp costs so much. I know some rely on tips but after the huge camp bill why is it the parents burden?
Welcome to America.
We've allowed it to come to the point where we let businesses/establishments get away with paying their employees less then minimum wage and passing on the "expense" of paying said employees to the consumer.
Day camps, heck even overnight camps for that matter have decided to join the bandwagon. They view paying staff members as an unnecessary expense and try to do without.
It now on you my friend to do the "right thing" and make sure these kids get paid.
Maybe look at it as if your child was a camp counselor. My daughter receives gifts from about 30% of the parents.
There's tipping, or giving a gift to show a token of appreciation for the service the counselor has provided and the hopefully wonderful experience they have given your child, more so then just what camp gives.
Then there's the note that camps send out with suggested tip amount. That's like restaurants sticking the minimum 15% or 18% onto a bill.
