Some stores only do it for larger parties. Some do this as they are "worried" the large tables will not tip adequately.

I get that, but i'm talking about everyone, even less than 6.
It should be 12% at most, if they want to do it.
And the waiters have nothing to work for.
Iv'e heard in some of these places the waiters don't even get all 18%, that's got to be illegal!

Day camp tips; I don't see why it's necessary to tip camp counselor when day camp costs so much. I know some rely on tips but after the huge camp bill why is it the parents burden?

Maybe look at it as if your child was a camp counselor. My daughter receives gifts from about 30% of the parents.

Welcome to America.
We've allowed it to come to the point where we let businesses/establishments get away with paying their employees less then minimum wage and passing on the "expense" of paying said employees to the consumer.
Day camps, heck even overnight camps for that matter have decided to join the bandwagon. They view paying staff members as an unnecessary expense and try to do without.
It now on you my friend to do the "right thing" and make sure these kids get paid.
Maybe look at it as if your child was a camp counselor. My daughter receives gifts from about 30% of the parents.
There's tipping, or giving a gift to show a token of appreciation for the service the counselor has provided and the hopefully wonderful experience they have given your child, more so then just what camp gives.
Then there's the note that camps send out with suggested tip amount. That's like restaurants sticking the minimum 15% or 18% onto a bill.

Definitely hear you and my wife too used to be a counselor. I hope you warned your daughter that tips may not be given.

100% against that.

DW & I must be doing something right since there was no need to warn her.

When do you tip valet at a hotel?

When you drop off the car for the first time? Every time they bring the car? The final time that they'll be bringing the car?

By mistake voted that i tip once

thinking it meant once in my life, not once every visit lol

The one time I tipped mia centurion I had this guy just offer himself as my slave literally getting stuff from the kitchen, drinks were filled before they were done, special requests so I had to hook him up!

I was just wondering the same thing. I usualy tip a small amount each time they bring the car and then a little more the final time.
On a side note I realized how cheap of a tipper I am when I saw the guy next to me give them $15 when he first dropped off his car.

It seems to me that in the US a tip is generally expected every time someone brings something that you requested to your room. You obviously don't have to though, and if you don't i assume you won't be the only one that they didn't get a tip from.

Not unless you plan on billing the hotel the amount of the tip.
