From the ship tracking at https://shipinfo.net/vessels_map.php?imo=7367835&mmsi=538071436&hours_ago=336It looks like all they did was cruise around King George Island and a couple of the other South Shetlands. They likely flew from Punta Arenas, Chile to King George Island and spent a couple days at sea eating and drinking, then flew back to Chile. I pity them - no Zodiacs, no polar plunge, no Prime Minister, no 24-hour fast, no Drake crossings, possibly no shore landings or even penguins, and most importantly, no Bing Bong!
They didn't have a choice if it was a private trip of Jewish pax.
Even if they don't actually travel on Shabbos?
Doesn't it say that if you leave three days before shabbos it's not a problem?
Yes, crazy rich guy taking friends. His trips are private jets, full-chartered trains, that sort of level.Remember the guys dancing for the pope a few years ago? That's him.
Translate for the OOTers please? Gevir taking friends on an outing?
Welcome:Fixed it for them!
Meh, we did it 4 years ago:

Thanks for sharing, this isn't relevant for me BH, but Dayan Raskin's psak on the chartered cruise over Shabbos was shocking for me!Seeking clarification now with the always helpful @dirah breaking down the issues and circling back tot he dayan. They were both part of the team, along with Rabbi Heber and Rabbi Kuber, that helped clarify very thorny shabbos timing issues for the Antarctica cruise.
