Canada to US USD transfer?

I would like to hear more about Norbert's Gambit, it seems like the best way to go. I would have to set up a new brokerage account on the US side, linking to a Canadian TD CAD account. Does anyone have experience with this and which brokerages work? This would be for occasional 15k transfers.

If you're based in Canada you don't need a brokerage account on the "US side" you need a brokerage account that allows you to trade in both USD/CAD

Does it work to link a physical Canadian account to questrade, or do you need to set up a CAD account and wire transfer it for setup?

What do you mean by physical Canadian account versus account?

Meaning, can you link the Canadian banking system right into it, or do they store CAD in their own accounts? I guess it's really semantics, it should work either way.
