Author Topic: SPG Award Reservation and Shabbos Checkout Q (Read 3378 times)

I would like to stay 2 nights Thurs/Fri at Le Meridien on all points...what do I do about checkout as it would be on Shabbos?

Anyone have experience with such a reservation, is it possible or must I got for Fri/Shabbos and checkout on Sat night?

Well...I actually got thru to the front desk! They said to reserve as normal on SPG and when checking in to let them know and they will give you a key to bypass the electric door.

There is no fee for the late checkout on Sat night.

I was told that it is a law in Israel that they have to let you stay until after shabbos.

Don't think the law keeps track of rabbenu tam...

If you abuse the situation, the security, could arrange you to see 3 stars way before motse...

I've been able to get checkout after shabbos outside of Israel by speaking to hotel managers in the past.

i dont think so. i remember reading an article recently of tel aviv hotels not allowing you to stay until shabbos ends

Stayed there many times for shabbos (meridean dead sea).
Could check out after shabbos without an issue, and i've found that you don't need to be out 10 min. after shabbos.
I think I checked out around an 45m after shabbos, and the bellboy took another 15m to come so......

You need to get a shabbos key (non-electric), and ask for "shoan shabbat" (shabos clock).
THis avoids turning on and off the ac when leaving the room or going onto porch.
MUST DOUBLE CHECK AND CONFIRM, they sometimes write you down and don't take care of it!

Didn't have a problem at all different types of properties whether on paid stays or free nights etc.

Even places which have no idea what Shabbos is, after a polite explanation (even though they still don't get it) don't have a problem.
Although, these types of properties are probably more understanding then any place in Israel...
