Although now I see the super wide one is the same price.

We see very happy with it

It depends whether it goes on steps or just in a hallway/doorway.  If steps, you should look at gates that screw into the wall rather than pressure mounted ones - they are much safer.  We have Kidco gates - http://www.amazon.com/Kidco-Angle-Mount-Safeway-White/dp/B006OJIK44/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1360449264&sr=8-3&keywords=kidco+gate, and while not necessarily cheap they are very good and keep our son safe.  Even when he climbs on them, they don't budge.

We just got this:

http://www.amazon.com/North-States-Supergate-Close-Metal/dp/B000PRUAFI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1360453999&sr=8-1&keywords=north+states+supergate

We use it for the stairs. It's great!

I have the same one, also for stairs. My daughter loves standing there and shaking it as hard as she could. So far it's held up beautifully.

Price is outrageous, but they work in places other gates won't:

Me too. Its much better than others posted cuz when it opens, it totally opens, doesnt sit on a frame to trip on going down stairs and there is a wider opening.

Did you screw in the cups or use the double sided tape?

Both. It an old house and nothing's quite straight. I wasn't taking any chances.

Baby Gate
Can anyone recommend a good baby gate. My baby is starting to crawl and I would like to put a gate on the top and bottom of the staircase. I would prefer a gate that looks nice, not just a cheap looking plastic gate.

Thanks
