What Credit Cards Do You Pay An Annual Fee On?
« on: December 22, 2015, 12:53:15 PM »
I'll start.

Card -- Annual Fee -- Rationale

AMEX Hilton Surpass       -- $75       -- $40K spend = DIA status
Barclay Old US Airways    -- $89       -- 10K awarded on anniversary, so buying at $0.0089/point, a good deal IMO
BoA   Alaska                      -- $75       -- very large limit good for large spending
Chase Ink Plus                 -- $95       -- 5x
AMEX PRG                       -- $95       -- 3x on airlines/2x on gas/groceries and no forex
Chase Sapphire Preferred -- $95       -- primary CDW, 2x on dining/travel

Total = $524 (which is more than I thought I spent)

What about you?

(Please try to use the above format to keep the thread clean and readable!)

ink $95

Citi Prestige $450 "great retention bonus", lounge access for the whole family + 2 guest, AA club entrance, $250 annual airline credit on any airline purchase, 3x on airfare, travel agents and hotels, 1.6 cent value on AA redemptions

So much for following the format, eh? Card -- Annual Fee -- Rationale and then Total.

What was the retention bonus on Prestige?

Chase Ink Plus                 -- $95       -- 5x, UR Transferable
AMEX SPG                       -- $95       -- between all the offers I feel it's basically a $0 fee card
Citi Prestige                      -- $450    -- so far between $250 annual credit and 4th night free the card has paid for itself. Remains to be seen if this holds up
Chase Sapphire Preferred -- $95       -- 2x on dining which gets reimbursed by business. I prefer this over TY
CNB Crystal Infinte           -- $450      -- $500 incidental reimburse more than pays for itself

I can, though they are kind of similar. I'm just telling Marco Polo what he might be referring to.

Almost perfect form! A-.

Just left out total which is $1235.

I have been debating that Crystal Infinite card... confirm it's $250 per card, even AU?

Barclay Old US Airways    -- $89       -- 10K awarded on anniversary, so buying at $0.089/point, a good deal IMO

not sure anyone would agree to that
$0.0089/point on the other hand...   ;)

Ahh so close  ;)
Yup, confirmed that primary and AU were credited with $250 using PGGM. I can't promise the party will last and you obviously missed the 2015 boat but so far so good. If you do apply be prepared for a thorough financial review though.

Chase Ink Plus                 -- $95       -- 5x
Chase UMPE                    -- $95       -- primary CDW/expanded availability and free luggage (those are more valuable to me than 2x on dining/travel, hence UMPE not SP)
Amex SPG                       -- $95       -- Starpoints value (BDE) and SBS (BDE), therefore will be cancelling this one before next AF hits

Total = $285 (which is less than I thought I spent)

What's with the inks and SP's? I'm not asking about their value, but if you're paying the AF that means going over a year without churning, which until recently there was no reason for. It sounds like you consistently pay the AF for these.
Who do you think you are fooling? You think you are going to pull a quick one on your Creator? Good luck with that.

Do you count cards on which retention bonus was received to keep it open ?
