I thought I'd share my experience getting approved in case it helps one of you get approved.
I am 5/24 (with my oldest card approved in September 2014, so right on the cusp) and I'm not CPC, so I was denied. I called recon a couple times, but no one was able to bypass the 5/24. The third rep agreed that I should be approved (for the reasons listed below), but said it was out of his control. I asked to speak with a supervisor, who ultimately approved my card for the following reasons:
1. (main reason) One of my 5 cards opened in the last 24 months was as store card (Neiman Marcus), so I said it shouldn't count towards the 5 cards max that people generally open for account bonuses - and the supervisor agreed.
2. Last month I opened a business checking account and deposited a nice amount of money. I explained that I am entrusting my business's money with chase because I am committed to my relationship with them - and I hope they value their relationship with me and my business.
3. I don't have a history of closing (most) of the cards that I open. I generally downgrade.
I did have to shuffle some credit around, but I got approved. If any of the above reasons are relevant to you, give it a shot...
