having a sukkah at a hotel
« on: September 15, 2014, 04:16:37 PM »
Has anyone had a hotel that allowed them to have a sukkah on their property for a couple of days?

I know a group of families that go every year on a Chol Hamoed trip and set up 4 Succahs at a hotel.

Chol hamoed.
I have had hotels (in Niagara is one I remember off hand) tell me I can't make it on their property.
And other hotels had no problem with us just taking a parking spot etc.

Usually it is not a problem
But does happen...

If someone takes along a pop up sukkah then that should not really be a problem in parking lot of hotel, just fold up after each use.

keep in mind if the hotel doesnt let you place one there (or in any public place) even if they didnt tell you yet to take it down its called a sukkah gezulla , not knowing if the hotel allows you or not may not help you would have to ask permission before. so ask you lor before you do this

Several hotels in Jerusalem will give you a sukkah balcony... Assuming you're talking about a place where you wouldn't otherwise have access to one though?

thats not a sukkah gezula because "אין קרקע נגזלת" so its considered lent (see maseches sukka 31a and the second tosfos there)

Thanks, looking for hotel in California that can have a large sukka on premises during sukkos, maybe a Chabad house who has it there or other organization.
