Citigold
« on: April 12, 2010, 02:19:00 PM »
Anyone involved with CitiGold?
I wanna know everything relevant to CitiGold.
Is it worth it?
I know you need 100,000 on hand...a lot!

When looking into it, a question prompted by citibank is...

Which free card would you like?
Citibank® Debit MasterCard® from Citigold® with ThankYou Network
 Citibank® / AAdvantage® Debit card from Citigold®
 Citibank® Debit MasterCard® from Citigold®

...any thoughts?

Also, any other interesting benefits worth noting on citigold?

You can get 20,000 AA miles with the current offer, but why would you blow $100K in a checking account. You can make much more in a CD or even a money market.

The $100K can be in a CD, money market, etc.
It doesn't need to be in a checking account.

And Citi will waive the fees on almost every Citi credit/debit card with Citigold.
Checks are free.
You also basically never pay a fee with Citigold, even if a check bounces, etc.

Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Still don't you think there's a better place for 100k?

Depends how risk-averse you are.
Where would you put $100K?

The main benefit is their exceptional customer service and no fees!! If you have 6 citi credit cards you save all your annual fees. It even includes Diners for those that know what that is. Also you don't need $100k for the first six months. After that you can either close your account and open a new one and get another 6 months or pay $25 monthly it still worth saving your annual fees in some cases plus you get good service!!

Citigold is lowering the required balance to $50,000.

With it you get
-Waived fees for most premium banking services (Free checks, free overdraft transfers, free bounced checks, free stop payments, free money orders, no forex on ATM/Debit, etc.)
-Waived annual fees on Citi cards (AA, Diners, Thank You, etc)
-Bonus monthly thank you points for having the account
And more... https://online.citibank.com/US/JRS/pands/detail.do?ID=Citigold

Fees are waived on Diners.
I don't think you can apply for one now though no matter what.
