When you buy gift cards on a cc you're getting points. If you use a cc that has more than 1 point per dollar spent, than you're earning even more. for example, Ink business cards earn 5 points per $ at office supply stores. During the first quarter of 2014, chase freedom card earns 5 ppd at gas stations. so buying gc's at staples with and ink or at a gas station with your freedom gives you a 5% discount at least. (depending on how you value the points, but at least 1 cent each)
