Every bank and every card is different. Find one that works and use it a bunch of times, until it doesn't go through. Just keep your CA limit down so you won't get hit with fees if it fails, and don't use a citi cc. All data on this is all trial and error. This is only for lazy MSers, as it's rather limited and easily traceable.

IMHO you need to do more research. One prime example is you don't lower your CA limit when playing this game.

I figured you'd say something like that. I'd rather give up the places that pend as CA and post as purchase, than have a normal CA limit and risk the fees in worst case scenario, even though I know I'm missing out. All research is fallible, and past data is subject to change, so I don't want to rely completely on other people's experiences. I haven't run out of banks that fit those guidelines yet.

Just being honest. The biggest mistake is lowering your CA limit and wondering why it does not work. With proper research you can be 99% sure you will not be hit with a CA fee.

Just funded Citigold with BofA Alaska. It was a tedious process for me. Here's something I posted in another thread--

I used my wife's BofA Alaska card to fund her new Citigold account with $15k. I faxed in 1 request and then called in on the same day. Now when I check her BofA account, there's 1 completed charge of $15k (which was pending as of Friday) and 1 pending charge of $15k. Total credit used is $30k. I don't have access to Citi account to see how much is in there right now. My wife's BofA CL is $16k, CA limit at $200 only. Does this sound like a duplicate charge due to fax and call? Or is the pending likely to fall off soon? I understand Visa Signature cards can exceed CL easily. We called in to get auth for $15k only.

Data point: I used chase ritz card to fund citigold and got hit with CA fees. I SMed to remove it and they did but Im still paying interest and no points
