I received an e-mail recently with the following promotion:
Your rewards are waiting.
We are looking forward to welcoming you in person for the first time as an SPG® member: So to inspire your first stay with us and give you the opportunity to experience our award-winning program, we'd like to offer you an exclusive choice of bonus rewards. Simply register by January 15, 2012, and complete just one stay anytime from December 1, 2011, through January 31, 2012, to receive your reward.
This exclusive bonus is on top of the abundant rewards you receive as a member of the Starwood Preferred Guest® program, including two Starpoints for every US$1 spent at more than 1,000 hotels and resorts worldwide across our nine distinctive brands, including W®, Le Méridien®, Westin® and Sheraton®.
We look forward to welcoming you in person.

I was surprised to have received this e-mail as I have made multiple stays this year and I am a platinum member. Still, I appreciate the gesture! Now I wonder if an award stay would count towards this. The promotion does not specifically stay that it must be a paid stay, and award nights now count towards elite status.
