Do we have a מי כעמך ישראל thread ?!
When I read the phrase "close calls," I always flash back to the incident when we took a taxi to the train station off of Yafo. My then 3YO (2YO? Maybe.) somehow got the left door open (I have my suspicions but it wasn't my fault), and waltzes straight across Rechov Yafo by herself. A double-bus had been barreling down the street, and he hits the brakes and stops right in front of her (maybe a foot or two of space). Obviously we run out and grab her. Driver opens the door and I'm expecting some sort of tirade. He yells, "Kibalti kol hazchutim mechayim shelah!" Closes the door and drives away...
"Kibalti kol hazchutim mechayim shelah!"
forgive me but the translation in my head just isn’t translating well, what did he say exactly?
He was saying that by saving her life, he gets zechusim for everything that she'll iy"h accomplish in her whole lifetime.
(Not really the place for this, but what he did was avoid unintentionallykilling someone, which doesn't seem like a major source of merit.)
