TL:DR - his trip report to EY for a wedding with some interesting halachik and historic tidbits thrown in.
Krias hatorah is off by a week from chu”l until matos masei and a bit of background on that.
Chiyuv on yochid or tzibur? Not getting into it. Chabad tries to hear… make a kriah of entire parsha Shabbos mincha week before you go

Minyan a bit harder from Chicago/DC than East Coast where lots of Frum Jews.

Shul upstairs in TLV bentched gomel by krias hatorah. Zekeinim – bentch gomel in minyan with 2 talmidei chachomim part of the minyan.
Yerushalayim arrival end of 2nd day Rosh chodesh, sunset to dark very quickly. Zeide in Har Hazeisim, OK to go on Rosh chodesh, he asked and was told it’s fine.
Tearing Kriah on seeing arei Yehuda bechurbanan, (yerushalayim & south but unclear what exactly encompasses, tore in chevron on a different trip). Many don’t tear at all or go Friday afternoon or some other halachik workaround (maybe switch with someone else but not clear it works). Practically frierdiker Rebbe tore in EY and Immanual Shochet Rebbe told him off for not tearing. Rav Telzner (?) father was told by Rebbe to tear, so I tear and have done so in the past. Can see from top of Har Hazeisim tip of Kosel and dome of rock so tore on har hazeisim.
Shluchim from Mumbai Holzberg buried on har hazeisim shaila about saying Mumbai as its Avoda zara’s name.
Toras chessed chossid of tzemach Tzedek psak on abortion in har hazeisim.
Kashrus be very careful -especially fruit and veggies.
Birchas kohanim every day
UAE Ashkenazim do every day as well.
Ksuba had a lot of nonstandard conditions and translated into current currency.
Yerushalayim early candlelighting – wasn’t sure what to do as planned musical kabbalas Shabbos for sheva brachos, when to stop music.

Tour of Rova – started by southern excavation of Kosel. Amazing b/c guide (Aryeh Silver from Beit shemesh?) was talmid chochom with lots of relevant chazals etc.

Tithes – trumah, small amount of produce to the kohen. Maser rishon a tenth to levi, levi takes tenth of that trumas maser to kohen and rest is for levi. Year 1,2,4 &5 of shmitta is another tenth of leftover /podeh onto coins taken to Jlem. Year 3 & 6 given to ani. This year nothing as shmitta.
Wall in old city – one side is bayis rishon one side is bayis sheni. Maser sheni is onto coin nowadays and destroyed, need to know where Jlem is as can’t be podeh onto coin in yerushalayim. Before take it if food became tameh then you can be podeh, so when kashrus rabbonim go around and do it before they take maser they make it tamei. Even though we’re tamei mes how do you know every item is tamei? Touch 1,000 oranges? Make sure you get it wet with willingness of owner so it can be mekabel tumah. Water always reverts to rishon letuma, so it can always contaminate – they take spray bottle he sticks finger in to be metame water and then sprays the water so fruit is muchshar and tamei so they can be podeh even in old city yeruhslayim.
Rebbe encouraged people to look for opportunities to do truma maser, thought would be difficult to do now as shmita. Fruit before 15 shvat is considered 6th year and needs. After is 7th and has kedushas shviis. Passed orange tree in rova and was very clear, fruit on bottom small green top large orange, can know top ones blossomed in year 6. Brother Shneur Zalman climbed up and shook a few oranges out. Google text for separating – tnai if 1,2,4,5 its sheni if 3 6 its ani, I knew it was year 6 and maser ani so no tnai needed. Theres a bracha. Need to bring into door of house specific process so couldn’t do it on the spot. Kept in backpack and walked in front door to do it. Said text – legal text to separate trauma, was 2% but take small amount now b/c goes to destroyed. Cut off piece of orange more than 1/100th, pc more than 1% is truma for lot, rest of this pc together with another pc here is maser levi the rest is trumas maser. Double wrap and put in garbage. Another 10% is maser ani no need to transfer onto coin. Gave a dollar equivalent of orange to ani. Why not give to levi? Not sure why not nowadays.
