Grand Canyon National Park (South Rim)
There are two trails from the south rim that go down into the canyon (and all the way to the canyon floor, which is a strenuous multi-day hike). You can experience a taste of it, by turning around at any point.
  • South Kaibab Trail - One of the top rated trails for the GC (trail descends into the canyon, uphill climb on return)
  • Bright Angel Trail - Also one of the top rated trails for GC (trail descends into the canyon, uphill climb on return)
There are also trails along the south rim (called Rim Trails) that don't descend into the canyon, and are relatively flat. These offer views of the canyon and are dotted with various scenic viewpoints. Some areas of the rim trail are paved others are not. These may be more suitable those with young children or those fear of hiking near the edge of the canyon cliffs. The National park shuttle buses also transport passengers to various points within the park, along the south rim.
A PDF map of grand canyon national park south rim is at https://www.nps.gov/grca/learn/news/upload/sr-pocket-map.pdf
Grand Canyon National Park Lodges

Nearby attractions outside the National Park include:
  • Skywalk
  • Bearizona Wildlife Park - Williams, AZ

Page AZ
Lake Powell (popular lake for boating, with kayak, motor boat, pontoon boat, houseboat rentals, Jetski, boat tours, and swimming). Lake and surrounding canyon walls are uniquely scenic together (it's actually a huge artificial reservoir surrounded by canyon walls, resulting from the construction of the Glen Canyon Dam

Hi,
I’m planning a vacation to Arizona. Base will be Scottsdale but I would like to visit the Grand Canyon one day.
A few questions if anyone can help.
1) I see a full day tour to Grand Canyon from Scottsdale area for around 200 did anyone ever do and recommend/ not recommend
2) anyone who visited Grand Canyon from Scottsdale have a good exact schedule/ intinerary with exact details where to go which roads to take which places to stop, what entrance to go to…
3) any specific attractions/ recommendations that I must do when visiting Arizona?
Thanks so much!

Best kept secret in phoenix is Manhattan pizza and subs. Right near the Jewish area, tiny mom and pop place. But food is solid and super fresh

Also Fata Morgana is solid (very close to Kitchen 18 in Scottsdale)

Agreed - had great experience with Manhattan in December. Fresh food. Great subs.

2 - It's a relatively simple park to understand. When visiting the south rim, there are trails that go down into the canyon and trails that go along the top/edge of the Canyon. There are buses in the park to take you to different points along the edge of the canyon. There is plenty of parking. See the wiki for more.
3 - It depends on your interests. See the wiki (and/or tripadvisor) for ideas. Sedona is very unique and on the way to the Grand Canyon.

That’s it right now. Cafe Chenar (Phoenix - fleish) and Zabari bite (Scottsdale - fleish - cloud kitchen/pickup) are temporarily closed right now. Zabari bite opens week by week I think. Chenar is being redone by new owner.

Just asked in a local group - if no one knows then I’ll ask around on Shabbos. 👍🏻

Oh my gosh!! I had no idea. Wow.
Also - Imperial Market in Phoenix has Fleishig takeout under the Phoenix vaad. Really good meat/dinner type foods. A lovely Bucharian lady is the cook on-site.

Re: Cafe Chenar, the restaurant was sold and will reopen as a different kosher restaurant. Response from a local FB group:
“The new restaurant is called My Spot Mediterranean grill. It will be a Glatt kosher shawarma joint, with burgers and falafel. It should open in about a week or so!”

(Obviously can’t verify the Kashrus till we find out the agency.)

That's too bad. Chenar menu look interesting.

But keep us posted when they open :)
