Think of Moving?

Airports:
  • CLE is about 15 minutes from downtown and 25-30 minutes from the Jewish community.  It's a focus city for Frontier, Spirit, and United.
  • The RTA (Rapid transit train) at Brookpark station has free parking and is just 1 train stop (3 minutes) to the stop inside the airport. The train costs $2.50 and the schedule is here: http://www.riderta.com/routes/redline/schedules/current#WestboundWeekday
An uber from Brookpark station to CLE is about $10.
  • Uber between the Jewish community and CLE is about $30.

  • The nicest hotel in Cleveland is like the Ritz-Carlton downtown. Marriott's Metropolitan at The 9 is also highly regarded, with a bar in an old vault. There is also a Hilton, Westin, and Kimpton downtown.

Transportation:
  • There is a subway/light rail connecting the airport with downtown, University Circle (where the Case campus and many museums are) and the Jewish community area, but renting a car is pretty much required unless you are just going between the airport and downtown.

You can try priceline/hotwire in Beachwood, lots of hotels but not SPG/Hyatt unfortunately.  There aren't any hotels within walking distance of YI, they're all at least a few miles away.

The closest SPG is the category 2 property at the airport some 25 minutes away and the closest Hyatt Place is in Independence about 15 minutes away where they know me all too well.

Id rather stay at that Hampton get 1 of 4 towards a free Hilton stay especially at $71 then stay at the SS and not get any credit.

Now if there wasnt any decent promos going on and I couldnt score an ElCheapo Rate be it at MR or HH then Id consider it, but there are a few Fairfields in the area with the Room saver coupon for $69, so Id do taht before the SS with no credit to be had. Just my opin

I know you're not a Hyatt fan, but surely you'd be better off spending the ~$71 at the nicer (IMO) Hyatt Place in Cleveland/Independence and get a few thousand AA miles as well as 1 of 2 stays towards a free Hyatt night worldwide!

Yup, their Shwarma is a big-time no-no, but their Shnitzel with french fries in a homemade Pita is not bad.

its not that Im not a Hyatt fan, I am for those that it works for

take my Aug trip to SYD I arrive Fri @ 6;30am so I booked a HInn in town for $105 since I just want a place to restup and shower before heading to a friends for Shabbos. MS Ill stay near SYD since I have a 9am flight to CNS.Back Weds night from CNS @ 8pm = no real time to enjoy the Park H where I slept a night last yr with a friend B4 heading early to The Blue Mts, as I have a Weds 1pm flight out

even the 4P with C&P works out better. But both the PH and 4P are a schelp from the train

theres just not enough places Id want to use them at. Then I dont think at this time of the yr it pays to get comped to their Diamond level, so till at least 7/1 no Hyatts for this guy

Is it not worth making 5 stays, costing maybe $400, to get some 30,000 AA miles?
The 2.5 free nights are just icing on that.

There's a new PH in Carlsbad, CA that just took over the Four Seasons that may be worth checking out for free on your next west coast MR...

I know Hyatt's can be scarce in places, but there's simply no program as lucrative as Gold Passport for actual hotel stays.  And their bottom-tier Hyatt Places are really quite nice for their category.  Very large rooms with 42" flat screens, pullout couch, and a nice free breakfast with Starbucks teas and coffee...

Is it not worth making 5 stays, costing maybe $400, to get some 30,000 AA miles?

in a few ways no. Im trying not to stay at a Hampton since a FS HH is worth 500 miles or 750 miles if put into US and Im using that to get to 120k with US, also Hyatt will be program #4 and theres only so many that I can keep top level with and *W is 1 and with 1m+ pts with HH it pays to keep Diamond with them till those pts are used up. Then theres 1m+ pts with Marriott as well so ther it pays to kep at least gold till those are used up thats 50 - 15 nights ayr = 35. Just no way to get Hyatt done as well

Well I went to Jerusalem Grill tonight and am happy to report that they have a new Chinese Chef who makes a wicked Sesame Chicken!
2 thumbs up!

The Sweet and Sour Chicken was pretty good too.

The Chinese menu is pretty small, the only other entrees were Moo Goo Gai Pan, Pepper Steak, and Vegetable Stir-Fry.

The rest of the menu is all pretty lousy, as is the service.  Definitely a "to-go" type of place when you need a Chinese-fix.

Also next door, Sababa has a brand new menu with Sushi that I have yet to try since getting really bad food a couple months ago.

Steve2, there's an Indians game tonight in downtown.
You can get a $5 ticket and get some $5 grilled A&H glatt kosher hot dogs at the game if you're interested.
