Wesin in Puerto Vallarta just became a Cat 2 -- probably the best deal out there.  Bring some food (non-beef products) and can buy US prodcucts in the supermarket.

Otherwise, Cabo San Lucas hotels are Cat 4 -- and there is Chabad in Cabo that sells food (though very expensive), and Costco sells deli meat (when they have it in stock).

Cancun is cancun -- I wouldn't go back there if you paid me (well, maybe if you paid me in SPG points I'd consider  :D)

Here's a very useful resource for figuring out where to go (or NOT to go) in Mexico these days...published by Travel Weekly using the US State Dept travel advisory reports

The single nicest is actually the St. Regis Punta Mita near Puerto Vallarta -- think it's a Cat 6 hotel.  Otherwise, the two properties in Cabo (I have heard) are a bit nicer than the two in PVR.

how difficult is it to kasher an oven? does one need to kasher the stovetop if i bring my own frying pan? I like the private pool idea for privacy for the family and shmiras einayim.

Westin lagunamar is not a "top resort"
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.
