looking for advice on hotel stay for my trip to LA/SD.  I want to use a combination of SPG, hyatt, and maybe radisson points for the week. I am spending 2 nights in SD and then 5 nights (incl Shabbos) in LA.  I have about 50k in SPG points and a good deal of chase UR points that I can move to Hyatt, plus 7k Hyatt points.  I also have about 250k radisson points but I dont know if LA is the best place to use them.
So I was thinking of using 24k spg at the US grant in SD and then using 21k at sheraton gateway lax and then 40k chase/hyatt points for hyatt regency century city for shabbos and sat night.
But another option would be to use 40k chase/hyatt at the PH aviara in SD, radisson points for 3 days at the radisson lax, and then 40k spg for shabbos and sat night at SLS.
Or the 40k chase/hyatt for PH aviara in SD and then maybe 3 nights at W LA Westwood (36k spg if I book soon) and then another 40k chase/hyatt at regency cc for shabbos. 
Or some other combination.  Having not seen these hotels I dont know which ones I should spend the points on.  So any advice?

See wiki for ideas, like boating, hiking, sightseeing, etc. Let me try to approach this from the other way: what city/town do you consider full of "things to do," and what are they?

It seems like there isn't so much to do in LA. It's more just walking around chilling.

What's more important to you: staying near sights/kosher restaurants/shuls or a nicer hotel?

nicer hotel but must be near a shul for shabbos.
During the week I can always drive to shul/sights/restaurant as long as its not more than a 20-30 minute drive

The Hyatt CC is a bit of a walk. If you have Marriott points, the Residence Inn is a great place.

Staying near the airport or in Westwood is only a 20-30 minute drive at certain times of the day. Forget about it taking 20-30 minutes during the morning and evening rush hours (6-10am -ish and 3-7pm -ish)

There is time to get the Chase Marriott card and use that.

You can always change hotels, but not sure how convenient that is.

Well every big city has their Ripley's type of stuff but NY also has things like discovery and times square. My impression is that you can spend more time at than the NY landmarks (empire state building, statue of liberty) than the LA ones. I would be very happy if you proved me wrong because I'm still planning on going to LA.
