sapphire preferred fee

my year with no fee is about to expire.
has anyone had any luck negotiating a second no fee year?

just down grade  to reg sapphire

No, there is no credit pull because your not applying for a new card. They just consider it a product transfer.

what negatives are there to the regular sapphire rather than the sapphire preferred?
and i know i can ask for the switch, but any chance they would waive the fee for the preferred?

The negatives are it doesn't have the benefits the preferred has :-\ .

You get 2 points for dining and 1 point for everything else. That's it....

You can try SM or calling, but this may be a tough one to get waived.

But if the SP hasn't been open for a year yet and you don't have the patience to HUCA till you get a rep to downgrade a SP to Freedom when the SP is less than year old then Sapphire is a decent option.
