Republic Wireless is said to be offering the Moto X in November for $300 OFF contract.
Now I guess the question is how hard it is to unlock it.
Next to impossible. There are no public roms available (Republic that is) , and people who bricked their phones when rooting were screwed.
So for all practice purposes it is on contract. Unless you want a $300 music player.

Don't forget to send in your old Motorola phones and claim your $100
I just sold my old Droid 3 on Ebay for $41. :'(

I wonder if having the  moto x will make it worth it to switch to RW. Until now I didn't even look there way because they only had 1 junky phone running Gingerbread.

Definitely makes me consider it. Regarding unlocking the phone, it may be impossible now, but I'm sure once they have a popular phone it will bring all the hackers who will crack it.

Customer service :)

I looked into it 2 years ago when they came out, at the time there were a few issues. a) Lack of choice in phones, you basically had to pay for the phone they give you and then you can't use it elsewhere because it's locked. b) Zero customer service, they don't even have a phone number, all issues are expected to be resolved on the forums on their website. c) Some technical issues (IIRC there was no handover from wifi to regular calling, so if you started a call in your house and left  your call dropped).

Really, are they just another prepaid-on-Sprint-network company?
Whats this WiFi business?

For anyone who picked up a MOTO X at $199.99, Best Buy has them for $99 this week. Price protection on you credit card should take care of this. Chase just confirmed my $100 claim.

It's a bait and switch. It's only for two years. Then once you have all your data there?

Look up the definition for bait and switch. This is far from it. It's a free 2 year trial. You can always export your data if your not happy or if you don't want to pay for the service when the time comes.
