Topic Wiki

Ill spell it out for the feeble.
You dont call up and ask if they take Visa gift cards for  a money order.
You dont call up and ask if they take Mastercard gc for a MO
You dont flippin call!

You go into a store and ask for an MO and she says ok its, XXX.XX say no p, take out your debit card and swipe. If the rep says no debits then apologize and leave. If she says lemme see that is that a gc say NO ITS A DEBIT. if she asks wheres your name you say (among many other options to think of) the permanent one is on the way and im using the temp one until i receive it. If you need to swipe more than once, its ok to have multiple debits (for those who are lacking in common sense). But be nonchalant dont be in your face about it to the rep. Reps want to feel they're in charge, its natural for a minimum paid employees...

I think this should give the basics on how to get a MO if you find a place.... this is not rocket science. But it seems like it is to some.... Where to cash out GCs for MO:

Where                                       Which gift card                                   Fee                                     max MO amount

Service desk @ Wal-Mart                  MVD,  Visa from Meta bank,                                  70 cents                                           $1000
                                                  chase (phased out)                                                                                      $1000

Rite Aid                                                                                                 $0.89                                          $500

"HaNesher HaGadol"                            One Vanilla                                 .52                                          $500 max
meijer-69 cents up to $1000-most stores
NOTES:
MVD charges 50 cents per transaction so ask for MO of card amount- (fee+ 50 cents) eg @WM ask for 498.80 on MO (or cover $1.20 some other way)

None of this is "above board" and you certainly are no more special than anyone else here doing this shtick.

Has anyone mentioned how annoying you are?  I'm sure plenty of others are thinking the same exact thing.                                                                                                                           I am not annoying. I just follow the rules. I do have 2BB/2 AMZN p accts/3 MVD accts and a few checking accts. I am behind in depositing MO, because I don't want to ruin a good thing, so I have a stack in my desk. For 2 years I have been ok.  II can wait to make deposits while buying VR, GC etc. Never heard such things except here "closed acct , was closed down FR" etc. You guys don't no when to slow up. I can imagine what the WM customers must think when seeing you at CS. makes it bad for all of us. AT least I am discreet and do everything slowly and above board.
doing stuff slowly doesnt make them better . just slower

Read it already ;)
I'm just wondering if there are any options other than depositing into a bank account (because my account is with Chase and it's supposed to be risky)

If I have to I'll open another checking account somewhere else.
is there risk in mailing the MO to chase credit card ? thanks!

sorry if I offended!! But.. I usually get 4 $500.00 GC per week at StopandShop (after loading VR to 2 BB accts to 5K max each) and also get 3 $500.00 MO on my 3 MVD cards (total) 7 MO at WM CS. (500.00 each.) I deposit 2 MO each week to Citi/Chase/AstoriaFed/BOA. Citi and Chase you must go inside to teller as ATM doesn't read the MO. Was told by teller it's because of weird shape of MO. Astoria I go to teller and so far no problems. I have a cheap BOA savings acct for free(linked to BBalance CC) and you can deposit MO thu BOA ATM's. Last week I did 5, as I am sitting on a bunch.  But they hold them for 7 days. Only allowed 4 Withdrawals on this acct per month w/o fees. No bill pay on this acct, so I withdraw the limit of $700.00 per day 4x/month and deposit the cash into my Citi acct. So it's another 2800. to pay off MS CC. The Astoria acct is the best by far. It's totally free (called easy checking) with no DD or min bal AND it has bill pay. I pay my AMEX BC from there plus use BB also. Hope this helps. No bank has asked me anything in the last 3 months. I do try to deposit some other checks I get into Astoria also. Chase has a big balance ( by big I mean about 7K and it stays there) and Citi has my DD from works. BOA requires that I leave $300.00 for the free savings.  BYW, I am working now!! HaHa Really.

Buy a mo for $500- whatever local supermarket charges for payment ask to pay debit, swipe card enter last four #s for pin... Or go to WM and they should allow a $1000 mo or 999 and pay from two account with your debit cards...

Here we call it AP.
Airlines sending me "We're in this together" emails.

Bruh, where were you when my suitcase weighed it 51.50 pounds?

ha.. yes - that's a good map - I like the naming of the drive-thru liquor store = "brew-thru"  :D

been calling is "APay"/"A-Pay" for years - our whole 6-man interstate circle..

actually, it's not really a 'circle' it's more like a 'spirograph' with some overlapping and changes each month -- so far, B"H, so good with our "AP accounts"

There's no wiki.  You, or anyone else, is invited to start one.
The info is sprinkled throughout the Bluebird thread, mostly.
My favorite cause: cssy.org
