What's the best way to book?
« on: November 11, 2014, 04:16:34 PM »
Looking to book ORD-DEN-LAX-LIH-ORD

First class.

What are my best options?

In theory I was thinking booking ORD-DEN-LAX-ORD with Delta (free stopover) and then just a sep BA ticket from LAX to LIH RT
but we all know how great Delta availability is.

Any ideas?

Thanks. My question is which alliance to even start with.  And I was going to post in the need help finding a ticket but I don't actually need help finding the ticket. Just a push in the right direction of what my best options are.

I actually think this could make a great thread for those of us who know how to search and book award flights on our own, but are unsure of the best currency/alliance to use for a specific routing.

They can only fly Middle East to Asia without hitting up Europe so only option is TLV-AMM-BKK-(then from there on) or maybe TLV-AMM-DOH-etc (on Qatar)..

Just what I can think of off the bat

Yes, so he was considering the Royal Jordanian option, but isn't there something better? Seems so crappy to me... BUT 60k AA so easy to get, as opposed to the 120k (IIRC) UA you'd need for the same route.

Agree. But whenever I post in threads like that nobody answers, even after several bumps  :(

Didn't know this thread exists. I almost made one myself recently.

I don't know about booking Y, but for J, I think you're right.
So,
NYC-LAX on UA booked with 17.5K LH/M&M.
LAX-LIH on AA booked with BA (not sure how much but J is just domestic J so it's not much of an upgrade over Y).
LIH-NYC doesn't exist, you'd have to fly to HNL first (costs/options for that trip can be found in the wiki of the Hawaii General Thread). Once there, HNL-EWR in J is cheapest booked with 30K SQ IINM.

OW or RT?

Either way, the instant part of the question: 115K AC+YQ or 140K UA.

Is there a thread for this or can we discuss here the Best way to book domestic flights. ?

which airline is the best to fly. and which currency to use.

We all know the value of British points for short haul.

E.g.  NYC to Mia cheapest currency in economy is BA on AA or US air. no close in fee.

NYC to LAX . AFAIK all economy are 25k. But business you can get for 40k on united using Singapore kriesflyer. I am not sure about fees.

There are some good deals on delta using Alaska miles.

Look up^ a couple of posts and you'll see that LH is only 17.5K to fly J on UA from NYC-LAX.
