Go for it. Just don't waste any time in Manila. It's a horrible place

Just seeing this now.
I went to el nido which is a 6 hour drive from PPS. Instead of buying a $45 ticket to PPS I chose to fly directly to El nido for about $100 each way. The airline is called ITI and to book you email the elnido art cafe.

Yes and no.
You're right, once your on that side of the world, you should spend as much time as possible in Palawan. And manila is dirty, hot and humid.
On the plus side, it has a Chabad with food and minyanim.
You can also go to Pinatuba crater lake or the Taal volcano.
Pinatuba is a gorgeous hike and a stunning lake on top. Seems like people on tripadvisor loved the Taal volcano.

We're planning on going to Palawan (el nido and Coron) in January, anyone have experience bringing kosher meat/dairy products into the country (it seems like it is not allowed...)
For anyone who's been there, what did you do about kosher food?

Don't know of anyone specific offhand, but check out the philippines forum on TripAdvisor-they have a list of recommended drivers for different regions of the Philippines. We used it when looking into a drivers for Bohol and they all seemed well reviewed for a reason

Anyone know what the travel restrictions are right now? Having a hard time figuring out if they require quarantine upon arrival, and if vaccine is necessary.

You need to create an account.
I successfully found an excellent employee,  but it's important to be as specific as possible when filling out your requirements in order to attract the applicants you would want.
Also, the really cheap workers are mostly worthless.

Mini TR

Flights-
Sunday 5am (originally 1am got delayed)
JFK-MNL direct with Philippines airlines ( the only flight that went direct, usually there’s a 1 hr. stop over in YVR for refueling due to the cargo they take. We got lucky for some reason there was no cargo on our flight.)
Our scheduled return flight on Wednesday got canceled due to plane maintenance, (It happens pretty often, I wouldn’t book a return on Thursday)
We switched to Asiana - MNL-ICN-JFK
If you don’t need mind a stopover, Asiana business is more comfortable, and overall better experience.

Food - We ordered every day from the Jewish association of Philippines. They deliver or you can pick up after Shachris
Decent food for the Philippines, the pita was great.

Activities - it was a business trip, didn’t get a chance to do much.

Prayers - the shul has a minyan most days, you need to register with the rabbi beforehand.

Hotel - we stayed at the peninsula -  beautiful 5 star hotel.

TY! I thought Chabad was the only kosher food place?
Do you know if there is any kosher food outside of Manilla?
Was hoping someone can recommend activities etc.
