From the screen shots of the ios app it looks like the motion sensor can be turned off.

Reviews say it's only turned off in the phone, it still senses motion and changes color on the machine itself without any way of easily disabling that.
Seems like a no go to me.

I have mine up and running (was very easy to install and set up)
Dan is right that there is no way to turn off motion sensor, the light blinks when there is motion.
A small peice of tape did the trick though. Will have to see if it affects day to day use.
