Chase Sapphire Reserve BENEFITS master thread

5/24 applies to this card
Minimum $10K of CL is needed, so if you can't get 10K on an instant, there's another great reason to get declined

There are multiple instances reported on this very thread of someone who was way over 5/24 and did not have PC and who got approval after recon.

The information below no longer applies for 2016/2017 but should still be useful for 2017/2018

Can you still get a 2016 travel credit if you apply now for a Sapphire Reserve card?

People have been reporting various due dates in January. If you get a due date between the 6th to the 25th then your bill will close between December 9th-28th and you will have time to spend the $300 in 2016 travel credit.

It is definitely still possible to get those due dates, but there’s no guarantee. If you do apply then be sure to call reconsideration to see if you can get approved today.
You may also be able to change your payment due date to generate a December statement if your due date is earlier than January 6 or later than January 25th. Just call to have you due date changed to January 25th to have your statement close on December 28th.

From here. Hopefully this will stop the constant questions.

I was denied by recon agent and his supervisor 10 days ago due to up to  6 or 7 cards opened in 24 months and they say 2 are AU. Got denial letter few days ago.

Try RECON again and what should i tell? They may say you were already by a supervisor?

Chase SR Instant Approval. Ritz- Pending- called recon, approved w/o any questions asked. Pretty good. Was over 5/24 no pre-approval.

Are you CPC? You went in to the branch in September and they told you no pre-approvals?

Whether he was or wasn't is really irrelevant, the in-branch pre approval only helps if you apply in-branch and since he didn't apply in-branch, it wouldn't help him get approved.

We don't know that. we can't rule out that an in-branch approval increases the chances for an online approval. we know the thought process behind 5/24 but until someone gets access to the lending algorithm, the more information we can gather the better.

Today I went to a banker with a 19 year old relative. She has had credit for 6 months, no pre-approval but was immediately approved on app for this card with very minimal income reported (No CPC, minimal assets). The banker did not have any pre-approvals for me (I'm at exactly 5/24). He laughed at the irony. I know she will be very diligent with her credit but it's become clear that Chase would rather take a (large) lending risk than a profitability risk.

It seems like Chase has a few forces pulling in different directions, each having more influence at different times. We see similar things in many financial and other companies.

One department is happy with the growth and the AF being booked in the current quarter, along with some persistency assumptions, while managing to minimize the cost of the benefits using some more assumptions. While the risk managers have their concerns, and are trying to limit lending risk, and someone else might have come up with an idea to curb unprofitable churning, while the other departments aren't fully aware of the methods and reasoning.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

So if we need to have the preferred for 12 months does that mean we need to pay for the yearly fee before downgrading? The rep said that they wouldn't downgrade yet...
Also, I was on the phone with a Chase Rep and they wouldn't downgrade to a Freedom Unlimited and they would only give me a regular sapphire. I could have tried HUCA but they wouldn't downgrade my card before 12 months.

(On a more fun note, the rep said that they got a note that there have ben over 100k signups - probably already mentioned here but nu nu...)

Downgrade to regular Sapphire and then to freedom unlimited.

Sorry to ask such a basic, stupid question what rather be safe than sorry. Is it a problem to apply for the Chase Reserve and a Business Chase Marriott on the same day? Thanks
