Chase Sapphire Reserve BENEFITS master thread

Minimum $10K of CL is needed, so if you can't get 10K on an instant, there's another great reason to get declined

There are multiple instances reported on this very thread of someone who was way over 5/24 and did not have PC and who got approval after recon.

The information below no longer applies for 2016/2017 but should still be useful for 2017/2018

Can you still get a 2016 travel credit if you apply now for a Sapphire Reserve card?

People have been reporting various due dates in January. If you get a due date between the 6th to the 25th then your bill will close between December 9th-28th and you will have time to spend the $300 in 2016 travel credit.

It is definitely still possible to get those due dates, but there’s no guarantee. If you do apply then be sure to call reconsideration to see if you can get approved today.
You may also be able to change your payment due date to generate a December statement if your due date is earlier than January 6 or later than January 25th. Just call to have you due date changed to January 25th to have your statement close on December 28th.

From here. Hopefully this will stop the constant questions.

Here's the other side of the story: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-12-06/dimon-says-new-card-cuts-profit-by-up-to-300-million-in-quarter
I think you mean this.

"JPMorgan is expected to post about $5 billion in profit this quarter, according to the average estimate of analysts in a Bloomberg survey."
"LESS IS MORE" It is the cumulative effect that kills deals!!! How many times do I have to say this?  >:(

That has nothing to do with this thread. But it could have been 5.3 billion if not for the acquisition costs of the CSR. The big question is how persistent will this business end up being. To me it seems that unless another bank comes with a game changer, this business will be persistent and profitable.

My girlfriend applied for the CSR on 11/28/16. Approved via recon on 11/29.

I had her do an SM and ask about the statement close date. They stated specifically that the statement close date is 1/14/16. We asked if we could move the statement close date into December and they said it would take 1-2 cycles to be reflected.

I asked her to call and ask specifically about payment due date. They told her over the phone that it was 1/11/16.

I originally assumed we were out of luck for the 2016 credit but according to @Dan, the first statement close is 25 days before the first payment due date, so that would put us at 12/14/16 for the first statement close. We never specifically asked over SM or phone in regards to our December statement in its current state.

Are we still in the game for the 2016 credit?

Whenever chase decides that it's costing them too much.

Thanks for confirmation.
She just asked Chase thru SM and they said that the first statement close date will be 1/14/17.. no mention of anything in December. This is incorrect though, right? Since there's a payment due date on 1/11/17 which will most likely have all of the charges up until that date.

I'm not sure what you mean but this doesn't make any sense. I would just PUTPAC.

I'm not sure what you mean but this doesn't make any sense. I would just PUTPAC.

Basically Chase says there is no December 2016 statement.

Here's the info I have:
Payment due: 1/11/16 (according to Chase)
First statement close date: 1/14/16 (according to Chase)
December statement close date: 12/14/16 (not confirmed by Chase)

According to Dan's assertion that first statement is 25 days before payment due date, there should be a December statement, but Chase is not confirming it. Without Chase confirming it, how are we sure that we can still get the 2016 credit? Since the 2016 travel credit is based off of the December 2016 statement.. of which Chase is basically saying does not exist for our situation.

I had her send another SM asking specifically if purchases between 12/6/16 and 12/14/16 will count as the 2016 travel credit or 2017. I would personally call but it's my girlfriend's card and she's kind of nervous over the phone.
