Chase Sapphire Reserve BENEFITS master thread

5/24 applies to this card
Minimum $10K of CL is needed, so if you can't get 10K on an instant, there's another great reason to get declined

There are multiple instances reported on this very thread of someone who was way over 5/24 and did not have PC and who got approval after recon.

The information below no longer applies for 2016/2017 but should still be useful for 2017/2018

Can you still get a 2016 travel credit if you apply now for a Sapphire Reserve card?

People have been reporting various due dates in January. If you get a due date between the 6th to the 25th then your bill will close between December 9th-28th and you will have time to spend the $300 in 2016 travel credit.

It is definitely still possible to get those due dates, but there’s no guarantee. If you do apply then be sure to call reconsideration to see if you can get approved today.
You may also be able to change your payment due date to generate a December statement if your due date is earlier than January 6 or later than January 25th. Just call to have you due date changed to January 25th to have your statement close on December 28th.

From here. Hopefully this will stop the constant questions.

Will this be the year of retention offers for CSR in light of new Prestige and Amex Gold?

I plan to forge full steam ahead with the Prestige/Premier/possibly also Barclays Arrival Premiercombo and leave the CSR behind (residing outside U.S. so obviously different considerations in play...)

I wish. If I get a retention worth over $100 I'll seriously consider keeping the card.

not sure if this was mentioned before, but my annual credit renewed- and for the first time, I did not earn points on the transactions that were subsequently credited back to me.

Same here. They got smart.
On a similar note, a few months ago I bought an airline ticket and of course got 3/$. Afterwards I had to cancel and the airline returned a portion of the price. The refund had a slightly different business name than the original purchase and showed like regular merchandise - not travel - so the triple points didn't get pulled back. I though I did really well on that. However, in subsequent months I noticed that my travel purchases were not receiving any points. When inquiring I was told that due to that earlier refund, until my new travel purchases reached the amount refunded, I would not earn new travel category points. Indeed once I finished spending that amount, travel purchases once again began earning 3x.

If I signed up for my csr in middle of April last year and my first AF posted on May 1.   When will my new 300$ travel credit start for the next year if my statements close on the 19th of the month?? Will it be April 20th ?

AF doesn't determine the cardmember anniversary. I believe the account is considered active whenever the card was approved, and your TC will be reset when the prior statement closes. You can always check it manually to see when it resets.

Thanks. Im asking this because I have some travel spending to do a few days before my new cardmember year should be starting. You think if  move the statement close date a few days earlier that will make the TC reset earlier?

Also- I want to downgrade my CSR after I get my travel credit-is that something I shouldnt do-since theyre cracking down on people lately? Or is that fine?

I think the credit goes by calendar year - not member year.
Check out the wiki re applying in Dec.

Think that was only if you got the card in the first year it came out

It's still December statement date for travel credit reset, right?

Yes, assuming that it always was for you.

Hmm what if it was a card (freedom etc) converted recently (or that I will convert soon)? Does it matter if the freedom was originally opened prior to a certain cutoff date?
