rosetta stone is known to be the best tool to learn a language, does that mean its amzing and it works or does it mean there isnt anything better out there?

I personally used it for portuguese and didnt get to pick up the full language just learned some very basic words, although i knew spanish b4 which is very similar.

the reason why its said to be the best: they claim you learn the new language with rosetta stone, the way you learned your first language as a kid. therefore it becomes natural.
if it is actually true, is another story. but the fact that they are the #1 program to learn a new language probably means there is a bit of truth there.....

I've met ppl who have succeeded with RS.

The best way is to immerse yourself in the country etc. among native speakers. I've learnt Russian that way in around a month, Hebrew similar but incomparable - prior background.
