Freedom earns UR points. UR points can be used for cash back or for miles if you also have a Sapphire Preferred.

If you also have a Chase Checking account you get 10 points for each transaction made on the freedom card in addition to 1-5 UR points per dollar spent.

Freedom offers Ultimate Rewards (UR) which can be used for many things. Sapphire preferred also uses UR and allows you to transfer to CO, Hyatt, or BA at 1:1. And you can put your UR from freedom into your sapphire UR and transfer all of them to those programs.

The real benefit to freedom is that if you are a chase banking customer you get an additional 10 points per purchase. This is great for small purchases especially if you then transfer that to CO miles.

I believe the freedom card is offering some cash back sign up bonus (follow Dan's link above). I am not sure if that comes as actual cash back or in UR points.

It comes as 15K UR points.
