[Updated With More Changes] Major Changes Are Coming For American Express Benefits! Master Chart Of What’s Being Added And Removed - https://www.dansdeals.com/credit-cards/major-changes-coming-american-express-benefits-master-chart-whats-added-removed/

$300 per item, 1K per card per year. So if you have an SPG card and a PRG card you'll only have 2k of total RP coverage, regardless of how many AUs you have on each card.

If you are unsure if an item qualifies for RP, then instead of asking for opinions here (slightly better than asking medical advice on facebook mind you), PUTPAC and ask the RP reps. You don't need to give your name or card info, just say you have an item or you will be buying an item and the store has a crappy return policy and want to make sure if there is a problem you can return it.

or
Return Protection:  www.americanexpress.com/return This is for when, in the first 3 months, the original seller won't accept a return, and the product is still in new condition.
Purchase Protection:  www.americanexpress.com/purchase This is for when, in the first 3 months, a purchase is lost, stolen, or broken.
Extended Warranty: www.americanexpress.com/warranty This covers only what the original warranty covers and extends it for up to 1 year.

Amex can approve RP claims even after the card is closed/cancelled, though YMMV.

Looking for advice... Used return/purchase protection really whenever I have an issue. Always honestly but if you make enough purchases online things comes up.

Just filed a claim for clothing my wife ordered that was final sale. $200 item. Waiting to hear back. We also had something that we just purchased that was stolen, value of $80. Should I file a claim or just leave it because it might be too much. Again, this is all 100% on the up and up.

File the claim. FYI, for the stolen item they will likely ask for a police report.

I dont know. Just dont want to have my account closed for overuse. Just making sure. BTW, filed the claim last night at 5PM, had a credit this morning.

Shouldn't all this be in a different thread called purchase protection? It's pretty hard to return an item that was stolen. No?

Question about Amex extended warranty: do I still have to have the same card I purchased on for the EW to apply, or any other Amex card?
Meaning, if I buy something on my BRG (for example), then close it to avoid annual fee, but still have other Amex cards, am I still covered under the extended warranty?
The T&C are not quite clear as they refer to "Cardmember" being someone issued an American Express card, but does it have to be the _same_ card?
Anyone with experience?

Thanks!
My search didn't come up with anything.
Follow up question: if I downgrade an Amex card, is it still the same card/account? Does it keep the number and purchase history?

Sorry for off topic here. I recently used my discover card to pay for some furnitures  at a store but I don't like this sofa any more and the store says they is no return on these furnitures. Does discover it card has return or protection for purchase. Like Amex does and anyone has experience with discover  card?

For return protection are the benefits on Plat better than other cards Gold, Hilton, Delta, etc?

I remember for the benefit that covers damage and stolen items, for the Plat card it is upped to $10k/yr and include loss as well. Any nuanced differences between the return protection policy of various AMEX cards?

Ha anyone ever been asked to call Amex after faxing in a receipt? My latest claim seemed pretty standard. I filed it online and immediately faxed in the receipt. A day or two later I got a call from Amex asking me basically the same questions I filed out online (date of attempted return, item condition, etc). Then, just the other day I received a pdf via email from Amex telling me they had received my RP documentation and that they needed additional documentation. However the additional documentation listed just said to call them at 800-xxx-xxxx.

Anyone have experience with this? I've filed a few claims this year.

Mmm. I don't recall ever receiving a pdf asking me to call... Is it actually necessary/ helpful to call or can I just wait and the claim can still be approved?

most likely it's some crossed wires and the original call didn't get logged properly or something. happened to me couple times.
actually, once they had somehow tagged my claim to the wrong card, once i did as well. both times the claims examiner was trying to find the charge and wanted to confirm the card. In the end they were able to move the claim to where it belonged and put it through.
Long story short, call them back.
