Here's how the trip went:
Sun night-landed in Las Vegas, stayed in Residence Inn Henderson for two nights using free night certs.
Mon-Hoover Dam tour, skipped kayaking Lake Mead due to 110 degrees heat!
Tues- drove to Zion, took the Riverside Hike which was GORGEOUS, but definitely busy. Then we drove to Bryce and checked into the Best Western plus( using UR points). Pricey, but worth the decent accommodations for the area. We drove up to look at the night sky from the lookout. Actually saw the Milky Way and it was magnificent.
Wed- Took the Navajo Loop trail down into Bryce Canyon. Difficult on the way up but worth it! Then we drove to Lake Powell and took a boat tour of Lower Antelope Canyon. Not at all the beauty of actually entering the canyon itself, but we were not up to another hot hike that day. We then drove to Flagstaff for our last night. We stayed in the Fairfield Marriott using a one night cert.
Thurs- Drove to Grand Canyon and did the Ooh Aah Hike. Drove to Phoenix for our 11:40 PM flight which was delayed to 1:00 AM!
We ended up skipping Sedona due to spending more time in Zion and Bryce.
Totally worth it and extremely beautiful. That being said, if I was with my kids it would have been too fast paced. Also we planned around minyanim which didn't always work out. For those who are interested int that part I would say that in general if you are at a major tourist destination at shkia, you will usually have a minyan for mincha and maariv. Shachris is a whole different story....
