Apparently there is now a cost to transfer miles between family members. Does anyone know when this went into effect or has it always been in effect? Are there any ways to get around this?

Mileage Plus Transfer Miles cost $0.015 per mile (includes applicable taxes) plus a $35.00 transaction fee.

Yea I recently went to transfer some on uniteds website and saw the fees I didn't at the end its jus not really worth it.

Except for very rare circumstances that don't seem to be consistently replicable.

Their official policy is that at the time of canceling a card you can transfer to spouses, but nothing more than that.

Haven't done that, but I asked the rep theoretically if that would work, she said you can only transfer to an account which you're the primary cardholder.
