Yes, the US has pressured them to do certain things. In response Israel gave them the middle finger and did what they wanted just about every time.

The one instance I can think of where they sort of listened was the attack on Iran. That was only because the US would not participate, and they couldn't take out the nuclear facilities own their own.

OMG.

Without pointing at who's fault it is, the part that freaks me out is that the "agreement" is for 33 hostages alive or dead. That means there is zero incentive to keep them alive. So besides releasing the bodies of hostages who have already died (hyd) what's to incentivize hamas against killing them on release day and passing their bodies to Israel??

IINM, it was ~30k members before Oct 7. I don't know if there is a good estimate to how many fighters are left. (I'm sure Israel has a guess, but they likely aren't going to be announcing that)

Nothing. But their current military capabilities can still be destroyed.

Alive, who knows how many wounded, and how badly wounded. Also no idea how many new recruits since the war started.

And there's no way to know of they blend in, other than intelligence complied from various sources.
