I had a SP Visa that a churned a while ago. I transferred the CL over to another card and closed it, but they made me leave behind a "cushion" of $500. I applied for newer SPs since then, but the "corpse" of that account continued to live on in my online account, with the message "this card is cancelled, etc." Various reps told me it could not be removed - they advised me to use the option to hide it from the main page, but that it would always be there.
Recently I had an Israeli company claim they refunded money to my CC, and you guessed it - it was the closed one. I checked my online profile, and lo and behold, that card is suddenly missing. So I called Chase to ask what happened... and they had absolutely no record of the card. The rep claimed that even if an account is closed, they would be able to find some trace of it for the next 7 years. A file, a record, a mention, something. But in my case... nada. It's like that SP ever existed. Anybody ever anything like this?
