Michtav Mileyahu: how are the 5 volumes divided

I'm trying to buy someone a volume of Michtav Meliyahu, but can't decide which one to get. Do you know what is in each volume? TIA

It might be a better idea to just get him a different sefer. Getting 1 volume of a 5 volume set is like getting someone a Mikraos gedolos - with only sefer Yayikra!!

either alef beis and gemal r good daled and hei  are much harder  alef has alot on chumash and gimel i think has alot on yomim tovim u can not buy separately unless u buy in capitol seforim or mayb i can spare a volume from my collection of them

Anything Michtav M'eliyahu is good, I'm sure he'll enjoy it. For future reference, I believe the original set was 1-3, the other 2 were added later.

For someone beginning, I'd recommend vol. 1. It covers a huge range of topics, and there's a ton of essential knowledge. Volume 2 is about yomim tovim and parsha. After that, I'm not sure how they divide it up, exactly.

Did anyone on here learn the entire Michtav Mileyahu? I once heard that in the original hebrew printing Rabbi Dessler writes something to the lines of "the best days of learning in his life was with Itche the masmid" but in the English printing this part was left out... It could be I am way off base with this but did anyone else hear such a story?

I haven't learned the whole thing, but I don't see why they would've left something like that out. Remember, the english and hebrew were pretty much written by the same people.
