Caution: BBM upgrade

Yesterday App World suggested 3x that I update my BBM (it was up to date until then):

  • 8am bbm updated
  • after reset another bbm update
  • app world suggests a 3rd update, but this time to the same version  :o, which I ignored

Result: I lost some 80% of my BBM contacts, and Blackberry Protect does NOT have a backup of them....

you mean the backup locally and via email?

yes, but stopped doing this since BB Protect toke over as I was sure it takes care of it...

He means BBM itself (in options) has backup functionality. I'm not sure what you're referring to :P

Oiy. Pretty sure when you set up BBP it does not mention BBM backup. But its odd they didn't roll it into one app. I guess because some people don't have BBP...

Maybe you have an old copy?

BBM is one of the BBs strongest points, I didnt imagine it wouldn't include.

I did restore to a while ago, but some of the contacts which my BBM did keep, were replaced with old-non-working-pins.

I had a problem when, right after snapping the pic, I tried to send it directly. Something along the lines of "invalid media object" or something. Pretty annoying.

However, if I exited the camera, then found it in the pics application, I had no problem sending it.

That sounds more like a software issue than a network issue.

If he's asking about problems sending pix via BBM it's either a software issue (with the new version of BBM, or (more likely IMHO) a problem with sending, i.e. the BBM service doesn't send pictures.

I'll bet you money he isn't referring to the issue you described.

I was just so frustrated with my sending pics problem that I needed to vent.

I had a more crazy problem, but now it got fixed (some 5 BBM upgrades later, and deleting + re-installing didn't help) That wanting to send a pic from the BBM, it was impossible to select the SEND button.

you can use the 6, but make some proper backups.
