If you are enrolled with baggage or flight delay protection with amex you want to make sure that the taxes are billed to the that card.
The way it works (CMIIAW) if the award ticket is booked from an elite/CC holders account, then the pax gets the same benefits. If not and only the pax has elite/CC, just show the GA your card and it should work.

Yup i booked an award ticket with my amex and my luggage arrived 10 hrs later i got the 500$ for delayed baggage
