Welcome to the forums. You should probably rewrite the post to clarify your question. Right now it seems that your husband and your credit card are expiring! I hope that is not what you meant.

Are you going to hold onto him for another yr and pay rhe annual fee or downgrade him, or just let him expire?  ;D
Unreasonable is not ok. Picky you're entitled to be.

Search and ye shall find all sort info.
The mini version:
a) Do you have any other Amex with MR points.  If they both have the same MR #, they are combined and you won't lose your points by cancelling this card.
b) Apply for new Amex cards that have MR points.  Make sure the new card has the same MR# as the old card. see a) above.
c) Transfer to an airline you are then stuck using when you make your flight, even if a better deal is found at that time with a different partner airline.

I think her question is which airline would have the best mills to transfer to. Since she wants to fly to California. (I assume with her expiring husband. ;))

My response basically is that it may be inefficient to tie herself to one airline at this time.  Although rereading her post says she wants to travel in july, so she could already book tickets.
So she should post in the 'help me find a points ticket' thread, saying she's got MR to spend.

But she can book AA with BA and UA with SQ, ANA, or AC, which are all Amex transfers.

Also, you can book DL with VS, no fee + transfer bonus.

Sorry that wasn't simple English.

a1) Do you have any other Amex cards?  Do they have Member Rewards  points ( as opposed to delta, spg etc)
a2) if yes, If they both have the same MR # - both the card with the annual fee posting and the other Amex card in a1)
b)If the answer to 2a) is no, then Apply for new Amex cards that have MR points. ( as opposed to delta, spg etc)
c)
