Bistro 1310 - my experience
« on: November 26, 2011, 10:03:08 PM »
Just wanted to share, considering that I think I bought the giftcard from a dealfind mentioned here. It actually turned out that we couldn't use it (we went on thanksgiving), but my wife wanted to go there anyway.

And I'm glad we did. Though it was full-priced (steaks were around 30-$35 for a standard steak), it was excellent. The food was really good, the steaks done just as we asked for, and the ambiance was nice (surprising for a restaurant right off 13th Ave, although it may have been that there weren't many people in that night).

I recommend it highly!

Ditto on that. Also went on the Dealfind gift card, and was very happy with both the service and the food.

Highly recommend the chocolate fondue for dessert - it was wonderful.

I'll have to try that the next time I'm there. And I am planning on having a next time, especially since I still have two of the dealfind coupons.

just went there last week. used dealfind coupon.

normally the bill would be out of my price range ($85 after tax/tip) but my cost was an even $50 ($25 for $60 voucher).

don't dine upscale pretty much ever so can't compare it to much but it was really nice. got a weird lamb dish that i regretted after seeing (and tasting) my companions really good looking steak.

overall i was impressed.

...not sure why i just wrote this review. this isn't yelp but whatever.

No, but part of getting the most for your money is knowing where the best services are. Could be I should've put this in some master thread, don't know - but when someone wants to go out to eat, and is willing to spend the money, why should they get sub-par food and experience when they can get something better?

Like I said in previous post, I don't know much about upscale dining. But, this might help, there was an additional menu with the specials of the week or wtvr. it had things like lamb and veal with some fancy side dishes etc. so if you mean it doesn't look too exotic it might just be that they rotate the menu on those items.

the menu seems all over the place, like they have a serious identitiy crisis

and then you have this "JUMBO OVERSTUFFED BEEF RAVIOLI",  sounds like my local delicatessen

Not sure what you mean by "all over the place," can you elaborate?

I guess my standards of fine dining aren't up to par. Why does beef ravioli downgrade the quality of the food or experience? As opposed to, say, "salmon croquettes" at La Marais?

i likewise bought the dealfind coupon..went there on a random weeknight. place was empty besides for one other couple. the decor is quite nice but i though the food was just plain old bad. we ordered the short ribs and the blackened steak for the main..short ribs looked and tasted like a brisket roast my grandmother would make...didnt help it was drowning in some sort of gravy..and the steak had potential but was dry even though i ordered it medium.. my friend told me he went there and likewise had a mediocre experience..place has potential but they definitely need to improve on food quality.
