Re top loaders: agitator or no?

I went with no.
Daughter has one for a few years and was happy with it.

And the door randomly locking for no reason, and you have to unplug the machine to reset it

Samsung but only a couple months old, no issues so far.

It's an interesting debate.
OTOH are the testers e.g. CR, Wirecutter, and others, who test washers in a lab and claim the front-loaders clean better despite there being so much less water used.

OTOH are housewives and some old-time appliance repair technicians who still swear that top-loaders clean better.

So who wins the science here?

THe old top loaders were better but those are no longer available.

The reviews talk about problems with the water level and balancing. It seems they put the new "computer" on the "old" machine and it can't get it right.

Waaaay too long. (I have a front-loader but of course grew up with a top-loader).
That and no pre-soak option makes me really miss a top-loader.

Had both and top loaders are long cycles also.
