Does Nexus = Global Entry?
« on: July 20, 2023, 04:07:37 PM »
Hi, I have Nexus for my whole family and I was recently wanting to sign up for global entry so I can use it for coming home from Israel this summer and when I go to my portal it does not let me apply for Global Entry.  Does Nexus automatically work as Global Entry? If not does anyone know how I can add it? it does not let me apply when I try to in my portal.  Thanks in advance for your help!

Yes. Nexus gets you GE and Pre.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Yes, Nexus is controlled in price by treaty, and is the best of any of the programs...even includes the new TSA-PRE like thing in Canada if you carry the card with you too!

yes I used global entry multiple times with my nexus card
btw if you fly from Canada to the us from airports that have preclearance us customs in Canada and have global entry you could use the "TSA-PRE like thing"

Downside is the need to drive down for an interview

no cards in Global Entry. It's tied to your passport. for Precheck your KTN must be in your booking

Look at the post above yours, apparently you can enter USA through nexus lane but not enter Canada

"CBP accepts Global Entry cards for lawful U.S. entry at land and sea ports of entry. Global Entry cards have radio frequency identification, which enables their use at SENTRI and NEXUS expedited travel lanes entering the U.S. Global Entry cards are not valid for entry into Canada via the NEXUS lanes and kiosks."

GE gets TSA PreCheck on Canada (yes that's how they call it...). Don't need the show card

To use the Nexus Lane by car everyone in the vehicle needs to have Nexus even a newborn. If there is anyone in the vehicle without Nexus you must use the regular lane.

Another fun fact, it's against the rules and grounds for revocation if you have a passenger without Nexus to drop them off before the border so that you can pass Nexus and they will walk through the regular Lane

Fun fact: taking along a child at the airport thru the global entry lane without them having their own membership, can get you kicked out as well
And I have actually seen it happen to a traveler near me
